We all are different, yet same
Ever wondered why we all are different?
One finds joy, another only sorrow.
One is rich, another poor.
One is healthy, another chronically ill.
One lives long, another dies young.
On the surface, we all seem distinct, bound by our circumstances.
But are these changing conditions truly who we are?
Are we really what we appear to be?
Are we really what we believe ourselves to be?
Are we really the body and mind?
Are we the senses that touch, taste, smell, see, hear?
Or is all that a changeful experience that we are aware of.
We mistake the names we carry, the memories we hold, the desires we chase, and passing thoughts and emotions as ourselves, and overlook the simple fact of being. The more we cling to these identities, the further we drift away from what has always been constant within us.
What is this 'I' that is aware?
What is this 'I' which perceives?
What is this 'I' which just is?
The 'I' is the awareness. 'I am'.
Awareness is the ground - the basis of all experiences. I am the one who is watching everything happen.
Great thing is, we are already what we are. We are all the same, by our true nature - we are awareness, gyaayak. We need not become it, we need not achieve it. Until we acknowledge, realize and settle in this ever-present awareness, we will continue to be different, in this worldly cycle, sometimes odds in our favour and sometimes against, like we've been from infinite past.
Despite the differences, the knower always only knows.
