We all are different, yet same
Ever wondered why we all are different?
One finds joy, the other sorrow.
One is rich, the other poor.
One is healthy, the other ill.
Some live long, some die young.
On the surface, we all seem distinct, bound by our life circumstances. But do these circumstances truly define who we are?
Are we really what we appear to be?
Or are we what we believe ourselves to be?
Are we the body and mind?
Are we the senses that touch, taste, smell, see, and hear?
Or is it all just changing experiences that we happen to be aware of?
We mistake ourselves for the names we carry, the identities we hold, the desires we chase, and mistake passing thoughts and emotions as ourselves, and overlook the simple fact that we are just being. The more we cling to these fleeting experiences, the further we drift away from what has always been constant within us.
What is this 'I' that is aware?
What is this 'I' that perceives?
What is this 'I' which just is?
The 'I' is awareness. I am not this. I am not that. I just am.
Awareness is the ground, the basis of all experiences. I am the one who is watching everything happen.
Great thing is, we are already who we are, and we need not become or achieve it. We just need to realize it. We are all the same, by our true nature - the knower, gyaayak. Until we acknowledge and realize this ever-present awareness, we will continue to be different, in this worldly cycle, sometimes odds in our favour and sometimes against, like we've been from infinite past.
Despite the differences, the ever-present knower only knows.
